A usability review explores whether people can complete important tasks on the website. Recruit participants who resemble the intended audience where possible, and give them a situation rather than instructions about which buttons to press. The aim is to observe understanding and friction.
A practical approach
Record what happens before deciding on a fix. A missed link may come from its wording, placement or the surrounding content. Combine observations into specific issues, then prioritise those that stop a task or create a misleading expectation.
Your checklist
- Choose a few high-value visitor tasks.
- Observe without directing every action.
- Retest the changed experience with the same task.
For example
For an international agency site, ask a participant to find out how to start a project from another time zone. Their route can reveal whether contact details and process information answer that concern.
